In the name of God Amen 1569 the xxixthe daye of December in the twelvethe yeare of the reigne of our Sovereigne Ladye Elizabeth by the grace of God Queen of England France and Irelande defender of the faith etc. etc.
I Thomas Alwaye of Collumpton in the countie of Devon beinge sicke of bodie but whoule and perfecte of memorie god be thanked doe make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme followinge
First I bequeathe my soule unto the eternall God my maker and to Jesus Christ my saviour and redeemer and my bodie to be buried in the churcheyarde of Colompton aforesaid
Item I give and bequeath to the reparations of the said churche of Colompton iijs iiijd
Item I give and bequeath to the poore inhabitants of the said pishe iijs iiijd
Item I give and bequeath to Thomas my sonne xij l vis vijd and my cobborde performed which now standeth
Item I give and bequeathe to Elizabeth my daughter tenne pounds
Item I give and bequeath unto Anne my daughter tenne pounds
All the residue of my goods not gyven nor bequeathed my debtes and legacies paide I give and bequeath unto Johanne my wyfe whome I ordaine and make my hoale executrix
And I doe ellecte and appointe Mr Robert Loosemore and Mr John Thomas to be overseers of this my last Will and Testament and enye of them to have for theire paines therein iijs iiijd
