In the name of God Amen Two and twentieth day of August in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fiftie and six I Thomazine Atkins of Cullompton in the countie of Devon widdowe being weake of bodie but of good and perfect minde and memorie praised be God for it revoking all former Wills and Testaments doe make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following

First I commend my soule into the hands of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer through the meritts of whose most precious death and passion I hope to be made pertaker of eternall glorie after this mortall life ended and my bodie I commend to Christian buriall to be interred in the Church of Cullompton neare unto the place where my late husband John Atkins was buried

Item I give to the poore of the said parish tenn shillings to be distributed among them by the discretion of my overseers hereafter named

Item I give unto my kinswoman Margaret Cockeram daughter of my brother Symon Cockram deceased twentie shillings in money to be paid within one quarter of a year next after my decease

Also I give unto her my coffer standing attn the staire head of the Chamber House where I now lie and also my best wearing short coat of purple cloth with two silk laces thereon and my plaine [ ] cloth petticoats to be delivered to her immediately after my death

Item I give unto my grandchild Mary Atkins the bench which was heretofore standing in the parlour of the dwelling house att Hayne wherein my late husband dwelled and is now remaining in the custodie of my brother David Cockram

All the rest of my goods and chattells I give and bequeath unto the said Marie Atkins my grandchild whome I doe make and ordaine to be sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament and I doe also entreate and appoynte by loving cozin Master George Cockram of Growen and my brother Master William Hart of Uffculme and Master William Sumpter of Cullumpton to be my Overseers of this my last Will and Testament and I doe also entreate and appoynte the said William Hart to be guardian to my said executrix and to take the administration of my said goods and chattells for the use of my said executrix and during her minority untill she shall be enabled to prove this my Will

In witnesses whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written the mark of Thomasine Atkins

The eighteenth day of the month of November in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fiftie and seaven by the Judges for Probate of Wills and granting Administration lawfully authorized was granted Letters of Administration to William Hart the testamentarie guardian to Mary Atkins a minor the naturall and lawfull grandchild and sole executrix named in the above written last Will and Testament of Thomasine Atkins late of Cullompton in the countie of Devon deceased to administer all and singular the goods chattells and debts of the said deceased according to the tenor and effect of the said deceased’s Will and during the minority and to the only use and benefit of Mary Atkins the minor and executrix aforesaid he the said William Hart being first legally sworne by virtue of a commission truly and faythfully to administer the same
