In the name of God Amen the fourteenth day of December in the twentieth yeare of the reigne of our sovereign Lord Charles by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland king defender of the faith etc 1644 I Thomas Baker of Ponsford in the parish of Collumpton in the countie of Devon yeoman being but weake in bodie but thankes be unto Almightie God in good and perfect memory and of death uncertaine doe make and ordayne this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following
First I give and bequeath my soule to Almightie God my maker and by the meritts of my only Saviour Jesus Christ my redeemer to inheritt eternall life in the Kingdom of Heaven and my bodie to Christian burial in the churchyard of Collumpton next adjoyning where my wife is buried
Imprimus I give and bequeath unto John Holmead my sonnne in law fiftie pounds to be paid him by tenn pounds a year by my executor
Item I give and bequeath to the said John Holmead one testor bedsted in the new chamber performed with the featherbed coverall blanketts bolstere & pillowes and also one tableboard and one aumbrie in the same chamber and my will is that John Holmead and his wife shall remayne and live in the said chamber untill the said fiftie pounds bee fully paid him and also to have and enjoye the new milk house & the kitchin to dresse and bake his breade and meate and all other occasions as they shall have during the terme and to have and enjoy the house called the slaughterhouse and the little herbe garden behind the barne
Item my will is that Robert Baker my sonne shall have and enjoye all the estate and interest which I have in my now dwelling house in Ponnsford with all the purtenances thereunto belonging provided always that he permitt and suffer John Holmead and his wife to have and enjoye such parts thereof as I have before herein nominated during the terme
Item more I give and bequeath to my said sonne Robert the bedsted in the parlour performed the [ ] cupboard in the same room the kittle in the kitchen the [ ] in the [ ] house and further my will and meaning is that my said sonne Robert shall not enjoye the said estate and bequeathed beforeherein bequeathed untill all my debts be fully satisfied and paid and further my will is that my sonne Robert Baker shall have & enjoy the three closes called the Heathallers one close called by the name of the three corner close one over close called Stobbingdon and the three closes called the Milk moores for the term of two years after my decease towards the payment of my debts
And after the expiration of the said two years I give and bequeath the said three closes called the Heathallers the said close called the three corner close and the said close called the Stobbingdon unto my sonne Thomas Baker
Item I give and bequeath moreover unto the said Thomas my sonne the house with the purtenances to the same which was commonly called Tuckers house being between the towne of Collumpton and Padbrooke ymmedyately after my death
Item my will is and I give and bequeath unto Samuel Baker my sonne all the estate and interest which I am to have of in the living called Magland als Home oke with the appurtenances to the same belonging
Item my will is and I give and bequeath unto George Baker my sonne all the right estate and interest which I have in those three closes of lands called Milke moores after the expiration of the two years aforesaid and after all the estate right & interest which I have & I shall have in the house at the south end of the towne of Collumpton with the appurtenances in part whereof Thomas Denning and his wife now liveth and heretofore lived one John Crudge and out of which my said bequeath unto him my will is that my sonne George shall pay unto my sonne Samuel his brother twentie shillings a year quarterly untill the said livinge called Maglands alias Hayne oke shall fall in hand to the said Samuel
Item I give and bequeath towards repaynting of the church of Collumpton five shillings
All the residue of my goods & chattells not before given and bequeathed I give and bequeath unto Robert Baker my sonne whom I doe make my whole and sole executor of this my last Will & Testament and to pay my debts legacies and all my funerall expenses and I desire Robert Gird and John Bale the younger of Collumpton to be my overseers to see this my Will to be performed according revoking all former wills legacies and bequeathes

This Will was proved at London the sixth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred fiftie nyne before the Judges for Probate for Wills and granting Administrations lawfully authorized by the oath of Robert Baker the sonne and sole executor in the said Will named to whom was committed administration of all and singular the good chattels and debts of the deceased being first sworne by commission well and truely to administer
