This is the last Will and Testament of me Edward Bell of Cullompton in the county of Devon wheelwright
I give devise and bequeath unto my two sons William Bell and Edward Bell and unto my four daughters Mary Ann Bell Susanna Bell Elizabeth Major wife of John Major of Honiton and Ann Quick wife of John Quick of Sidmouth gardener all my dwelling houses gardens and premises also all my monies securities for money and every thing that I may die possessed of to divide the rents and profits of my dwelling houses and premises and all other of my effects of what nature or quality the same be between them share and share alike first paying unto my son John Bell half a crown in the pound from such profits as may arise from my dwelling houses and premises and my other effects after deducting rate taxes and repairs of the same
And I will and direct that not any of my dwelling houses and promises shall be sold without the consent of four of my said children being first had and obtained
And in case my said dwelling houses and premises should be sold then I then direct that by said son John Bell shall receive two shillings and sixpence in the pound from the amount of such sale after deducting the expenses attending it and the overplus shall be divided between my said two sons William and Edward and my said four daughters Mary Ann Susanna Elizabeth and Ann share and share alike
But should either of my said children die without issue then I give his or her share between the survivors of them share and share alike and my will and mind is that all just debts and funeral expenses shall be paid previous to the distribution of any property
And I hereby nominate and appoint my said son Edward Bell executor and my daughter Mary Ann Bell executrix of this my Will
In witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament contained in one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of August one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine

Signed sealed published and declared by the said testator Edward Bell as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto

Proved at London 14th of May 1836 before the worshipful William Calverley Curteis Dr of Laws and surrogate by the oath of Mary Ann Bell spinster the daughter one of the exors to whom administration was granted having been first sworn duly to admn power reserved of making the light grant to Edward Bell the son the other executor when he shall apply for the same
