Proved in the Archdeaconry Court of Exeter the 11th of April 1856
Appeared personally William Broom of Cullompton in the county of Devon maltster the sole executor named in the Will of Edmund Broom late of Cullompton aforesaid maltster who died on the 20th day of December 1855
This is the last Will and Testament of me Edmund Broom of Cullompton in the county of Devon maltster which I publish and declare as follows
I give unto my daughter Sarah Ridler the wife of Robert Ridler the sum of nineteen guineas
Unto my daughter Mary Udlow the wife of William Udlow I give the like sum of nineteen guineas
I give unto my granddaughter Eliza Ellis now living at Sampford Peverell the sum of ten pounds
I give unto my son John Broom the sum of one pound and also forgive him the debt he owes me on his promissory note and all interest
I give unto my servant or housekeeper who shall be living with me at the time of my decease the sum of five pounds
All which said several legacies I direct to be paid out of my residuary estate by my executor hereinafter named at the expiration of three months next after my decease
I give and devise unto my son William Broom and his assigns for his life all that my freehold dwelling house malthouse outhouses and premises with their rights members and appurtenances called Broad Meads situate in the Fore Street of the town of Cullompton aforesaid
And from and immediately after his decease I give and devise the said dwelling house malthouse and premises with their appurtenances unto my grandson Edmund Broom his heirs and assigns forever
I give unto my grandson Robert Ridler the younger the sum of ten pounds
Unto John Broom the younger my grandson and Elizabeth Broom my granddaughter I give the some of ten pounds each
All the rest residue and remainder of my real and personal estate (after payment of all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses and all the aforesaid legacies) I give devise and bequeath unto my son the said William Broom his heirs executors administrators and assigns and I appoint the said William Broom to be executor of this my Will and I revoke all other Wills
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this tenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and fifty Edmund Broom
Signed by the said Testator in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence and at his request have here unto subscribed our names as witnesses
