Executor John Fowler of the parish of Cullompton shopkeeper
In the name of God Amen I George Fowler of Cullompton in the county of Devon cooper being of sound and disposing memory and understanding do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
First I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Juliana Fowler all such sum or sums of money as are now standing in my name in the books of the three percent consolidated annuities at the Bank of England or in any other Government funds together with all dividends due thereon
Also I give devise and bequeath unto my cousin John Fowler shopkeeper all those my freehold messages and dwelling houses with the cellar stable shops and first or little garden and all the premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging (except the long garden) formerly purchased of Mr William Hole situate in Collumpton aforesaid and now in the occupation of the said John Fowler Edward Pratt and others
To have and to hold the same with the appurtenances unto him the said John Fowler his heirs and assigns for ever subject and chargeable nevertheless with the payment of the several legacies or sums of money hereinafter mentioned (that is to say)
The sum of fifty pounds of lawful British money to Thomas Fowler of Tiverton in the said county cabinet maker to be paid to him within three months after my decease
The sums of ten pounds apiece to his the said Thomas Fowler’s son and daughter to be paid to them at their respective ages of twenty one years
The sum of ten pounds to my friend Thomas Searle parish clerk
The sum of ten pounds to my servant Mary Shapland to be paid to them respectively within three months after my decease
And the sums of twenty pounds apiece to the son and two daughters of the said John Fowler at their respective ages of twenty one years
All other my freehold messuages land tenements and hereditaments situate in Collumpton and Bradninch or elsewhere (Subject to the jointure of my said wife on such part or parts thereof as are included in the settlement made previous to my marriage with her) I give devise and bequeath unto my cousin John Fowler clothier to have and to hold the same with the appurtenances unto the said John Fowler clothier his heirs and assigns forever subject and chargeable with the payment of the several sums of twenty pounds apiece to his three brothers and two unmarried sisters within three months after my decease or at their respective ages of twenty one years
Also I give and bequeath unto my said servant Mary Shapland my press bed
All the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattles personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever subject to the payment of all my just debts and funeral expenses I give and bequeath unto the said John Fowler shopkeeper and do make ordain constitute and appoint him the said last mentioned John Fowler whole and sole executor of this my last Will and Testament
In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal the fifth day of April one thousand eight hundred and thirteen George Fowler (seal)
Signed sealed published and declared by the said testator George Fowler as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto
