In the name of God Amen the eight daye of Jannuary in the yeare of our Lord God according to the computation of the Church of England one thousand six hundred twentie one I Henry Geard the younger of the parish of Cullompton in the countie of Devon yeoman beinge sicke of body but in good and perfect memory (thankes be to God) do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following

First I bequeath my soule into the handes of Allmightie God my maker and redeemer and my body to the earth of whence it came

Item I give towards the reparation of the church of Cullompton twentie shillings

Item I give unto the poore people of the same parish fortie shillings to be delivered to them by my executor and one of the constables to whome they shall thinke to have most neede

Item my will is that Daniell Geard my brother shall have tenn pounds and my best cloake to be payd within one quarter of a yeare after that the sayd Daniell hath taken by one bond of tenn pounds for the payment of fyve poundes wherein myselfe and the said Daniel doe [ ] ioyntlie and severallie unto one John Westron of Halberton and deliver the same unto my executor cancelled or otherwise defaced.

Item I give unto Henry the sonne of Simon Geard tenn shillinges

Item I give unto John Sheller five poundes to be payd within one yeare and a halfe after my decease

Item I give unto [ ] Sheller and Johane Sheller fortie shillinges apiece to be payd within one yeare and a halfe after my decease or to the survivor of them

Item I give unto William Hart three [ ] and three [ ]

Item I give unto James Geard my brother all the rest of my wearing apparell

Item I give unto every of my godchildren twelve pence apiece

All the rest of my goods and chattells not given nor bequeathed I give and bequeath unto John Taylor my sonne in lawe whome I do make my whole and sole executor of this my last Will and Testament

And I do appoynte my good friends Thomas Atkyns and John May the elder of Westcott to be my overseers to see this my will in all things performed and I do give unto them for their paynes fyve shillings eight pence apiece Henry Geard
