In the name of God Amen Twentieth day of March in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred and fortie nyne I Edmond Hatch of Langford in the parish of Collompton and countie of Devon esquire being in good health and of sound and perfect memory thankes be to Almightie God and taking into consideration the uncertainty of the tyme of my death and being desired to settle my estate wherewith God have blessed mee doe hereby revoke make [ ] and void all former Will and Wills by mee heretofore made and doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following
First I bequeath my soule into the hands of Almightie God my Creator and Redeemer stedfastly hoping to receive remission of my sinne and everlasting life in his glorious and eternall kingdom by and through the death meritts death and passion of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and as for my body I commend it to the earth to be buried in decent and sombre manner in the churchyard of the parish of Collumpton aforesaid if I shall die in or near that parish
Item I give to the poor of the parish of Collumpton aforesaid the summe of fortie shillings
And whereas I stand possessed of and in one tenement with appurtenances lying in the mannor of Langford and parish of Collumpton aforesaid by Copie of Court Roll for terme of my life according to the customs of the said mannor the revertion thereof being granted unto my cousin William Walrond of Bradfield in the said countie of Devon esquire for the terme of his life according to the custome of the said mannor upon this trust and confidence that he the said William Walrond doe or shall surrender and yield upp into the hands of the Lord of the said mannor of Langford within one yeare next after request to him made by mee the said Edmond Hatch or such woman as shall be my wife at the tyme of my decease all his estate right title and interest which he hath or claimeth to have of in the said tenement with the appurtenances the same tenement with the appurtenances to be so granted by the Lord of the said mannor of Langford to such child of the said Edmond Hatch shall have by my wife and in default of such child then to such other person as shall be by my said wife after my decease nominated and appointed for terme of his or her life according to the custome of the said mannor
Item I give full power and authority to Mary Hatch my well beloved wife to nominate and appoynte such person as she shall think fit to have the revertion of the aforesaid tenement with the appurtenances to be granted unto him or her so to be nominated as aforesaid for his or her life according to the custome of the said mannor in the roome and stead of the said William Walrond for the only use livelyhood and maintenance of my said wife Mary Hatch
And whereas I stand seized in Fee simple of and in diverse lands and hereditaments lying within the severall parishes of Northmolton Southmolton Bishopps Nimet als Nimet Epi and Bowe als Nimet Tracy Item I give full power and authority to my said wife Mary Hatch during her naturall life to grant anie estate or estates either in possession or revertion or one two or three lives or for fourscore and nineteen yeares determinable upon one two or three lives according to the custome of the mannors in all my lands lying within the said severall parishes of Northmolton Southmolton Bishop’s Nimet als Nimet Epi and Bowe als Nimet Tracy and after her decease my will is and I give and bequeath all my said landes and hereditaments whatsoever with the appurtenances unto the right heires of mee the said Edmond Hatch for evermore
All the rest of my goods and chattells reall and personall not before given nor bequeathed my debts legacies and funerall being paid and discharged I give and bequeath to my said well beloved wife Mary Hatch whom I make my whole and sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament and moreover I ordaine request entreate and appoynte my said cousin William Walrond and my brother in law Frederick Arundell of Camborne in the countie of Cornwall esquire to be overseers of this my last Will and Testament hopeing that they will be ayding and assisting to my said executrix to see all things in this my Will accomplished and for their paines and care I give to everie of them fiftie shillings apiece to be bestowed in two gold rings of that value to be delivered unto them
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written Edmond Hatch in the presence of William Walrond Hen Fitzwilliame
