In the name of God Amen the thirtene day of February in the yere of our Lord God a thousand fyve hundred and thirtye I John Kayleway in my hole and parfytt mynde make and declare my Testament and last Will in manner and fourme following

First I bequeathe my soule to allmighty God my maker and my body to be buryed in holy yerthe in my churche or churche where yt shall please allmighty God And I bequeath to the high crosse light , our lady light, Saint Johns light, Saint Nicholas light Jesus light everie of them in the pishe churche of Colompton xxid and to the store of the said churche of Colompton vis viijd

Item I bequeath to the store of Saint Georges Chapell at [ ] xxd

Also I will and bequeath that if Jane my wife make assurance of all her mannors messuages landes tenements rents interests and being and of all other her inheritance in the counties of Cornwall Devon Southampton and Dorset to Sir Giles Strangewaies knight John [Row] sergeant at the lawes John [S…] and Symon Kaylaway my feoffees or to the more parte of them and to their heires to the use of the said Jane my wife during her life the remainder thereof to the use of George Kaylaway sonne and heire of the said John Kaylaway and Jane and to the heires of the bodie of the said George lawfully begotten

And for defaulte of yssue of the bodye of the said George lawfully begotten to remaine to the said Jane and to the heires of her body lawfully begotten in [ ] remainders over and according to an indenture bering date the xijth day of October in the yere of our Lord God a thousande fyve hundred xxix and in the xxj yere of the reign of King Henry the eighth wherin I have declared my will of all myn right tenure then I will my said wife have two hundreth pounds in mony

Item I bequethe to the said Jane my wife all my household stuff as hereafter folowithe that ys to wytt bedding hanginges of house cuppes [ ] saltes [ ] carpytts cushions brochis potts pannes basons vessells dishes candlesticks woode horses and other bestes and chaynes of goulde except such thinges thereof as I will hereafter give away to any other psone or psonnes

Provided also that the said Jane my wife shall thereof deliver a bedd pformed wth all manner of stuffe pteyning to a bedd and hanging for a chamber to my sonne and heire to lye to hym during the tyme that he is at hit lazing

Item I bequeathe to Marye the elder Anne Elizabeth the younger Katheryne Florence and Agnes my daughters [ ] suche of them not marryed before the tyme of my decease two hundreth marks in lawfull mony of England if they be ordered and [ ] in their marriage by myn executors or the more pte of them to be paied to them at the day of their marriage

And if it happen any of the said daughters to decease before she be marryed or else to be professed in religion then my will is that all suche money as should be paid unto her so deceased or professed shall go to my executors towards towards the pformance of my last Will

Item I bequethe to Symond Kaylaway my cousin and servant xxxl in money to helpe to be fre and freman in the Staple of Calles

Item I bequethe to William Turner my servant xl

Item I bequethe to suche of my household servants that shall be in service at the tyme of my decease

Item I bequethe to Robert [ ] John Smythe Humfrey [Eggbastian] Henry Canford John Edmundes of Colompton and eache of them vijs

Item I bequethe to the psihe churches of Kentisbere Brodwoode Filleighe and [ ] and eache of them vjs viijd

Item I give to him or her that ought to right have of blood unto Thomas [ ] some tyme of Colehouse in the parishe of Brodwodd Filleygh in the county of Devon to helpe hym his heires to purchase lands or other [ ] to him therein in money

Item I bequethe to the store of John [ ] chantry in the pyshe church of Colompton towards the funding of the priest wages the iijh of money uppon condition direction that William Huntingdon and his executors may be discharged of and [ ] and yt that the said Wyllyam Huntingdon remayneth for debte in the boke of accompte of the said John [ ] chantry uppon the said Willyam Huntingdon and his executors and assignes

Item I bequethe to two houses of [ ] of Grenewich and Richmond and to their convents [ ] of the said houses xxl and to pray for the soule of James Whiting

Item I bequethe to an honest preist to be named by myne executor xlb and the said preist to pray for the soule of John Gibbet all which legacyes and bequestes before wrytten I [ ] that yt shall be paid out of any wools and felts in the Staple of Caleis

And of all my goodes and chattells not given or bequethed shall go and be unto John Rowe Sergeant at law Thomas Sydenham of Culmstoke John Drake of Exmouth and Robert Howe of Otty Saint Mary to pay my debts and deficiencies yf after then deficiant

And the said John Rowe Thomas Sydenham John Drake and Robert Howe I make and ordeyn myne executors provided alwayes that if my said executors or any of them or my feoffees or any of them be troubyled sueyd for this my Will and Testament or for defense of my lands or my will of my land declared then I will that their charges thereof be born of my lands and goods

To this witnesseth Thomas Preston clerk Robert Wilcocks priest Thomas Steven priest Willyam Smythe Willyam Tanner Symon Kaylwaye and others my signe name and seale the day and yere above written per me Johan Rowse Thomas Sydenham Johan Drake Robert Howe
