In dei nomme Amen the thirde day of February in the yere of our Lord God a thousand fyve hundred twenty and eight I John Lane of Colompton within the diocese of Exeter lauded be God hole of mynde and of pfitt remembrance make my Testament and last Will as in manner and fourme following

First I give and bequethe my soule to God allmighty to his blessed mother Saint Mary and to all the holy company of heavyn my body to be buried within the newe chapell of our Lady in Colompton aforesaid

Item I bequeth to the high crosse light there of the pishe churche vjs xijd also to the light of our lady there vjs xijd

Item to the store of the name of Jesus there vjs vijd to the brotherhood of Saint John evangelist there xjs vijd and to the cathedral church of Exeter iijs iijd

Item I give and bequeath to a hundred pishe churches next aboute Colompton xxxijl xjs vijd to be equally devided to every of the said parishe churches [ ] my name to be put in their bederolls to pray for me in their pulpitt

Item I bequeth to Emme my servant tenne dozen of wollen clothe

Item to John Pewse my servant tenne dozen of woollen clothe and to Alexandre Trott my servant x dozen of wollen cloth

Item I will that myn executrix shall deliver and paye unto the said Alexandre Trott one hundred [ ] in money or money worth which I owe unto him that was delivered me for him in keping

Item I bequeth to every of my household servants being in service with me fyve dozeyn of woollen cloth apiece

Item I bequeth to every sonne and daughter of Thomas Warryn my sonne in lawe of his body lawfully begotten one dozeyn of woollen cloth apiece or else xl in money

Item I will that my tenement with the appurtenances in Colompton which I bought late of John Gye which tenement John Pytt nowe dwellithe in wherein Humfrey Moore esquire John Smyth Thomas Warryn and George Cockeram standeth infeoffeed in shall remayn unto the funding of the priest in the newe Chapell of Our Lady in Colompton aforesaid

Also I will that all suche leases and estate as I have of the prior of Saint Nicholas for tithinge which I have for terme of xxvj yeres as in reversion after John Kaylway gentleman which as yet have to come xvj yeres the said tithinge issues and profits that shall come thereof during my said terme of xxvj yeres to remayn to the said newe chapell of our Lady in Colompton aforesaid to the fynding of the preist there

The residue of all my goodes and debts to me owing not afore bequest my funerall expenses and debts paide I give and bequeth it to Thomasyne my wife whom I ordeyn and make my very hole and true executrix she to doo for my soule helthe as she thinketh best

To this my last will to be truly pformed and done I ordeyn and make John Smyth constable of Colompton Thomas Warren George Cockeram and Harry Harton my [ ] overseers every of them having for their labour to see it fulfilled and faithfully done tenne pounds a piece

Over and above I desire master Humfrey Moore esquire to be general supervisor of this my Will he having for his payne vl xjs iiijd
