Appeared personally Charles Salter of Colompton one of the executors named in the last Will and Testament of William Mills of Colompton in the county of Devon carpenter who died on the 25th day of December last

I William Mills of the town of Collumpton in the county of Devon carpenter being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say)

First I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife the whole of my property both real and personal of every description whatsoever and wheresoever the same may be at the time of my decease subject however to the payment of all and singular my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses for and to her sole use and benefit during the term of her natural life with the exception only that my daughter Mary Mills and my sister in law Martha Sansom shall have quiet and peaceable residence in the dwelling house which I now occupy free of all rents and other expenses whatsoever as long as they or either of them shall live

Secondly upon and after the death of my beloved wife I give and devise unto my daughter Mary the house garden and premises which I now occupy together also with the dwelling house or apartments and premises at present in the occupation of my son in law Peter Plumpton

Likewise unto my daughter Jane Goodhind I give and devise those five several dwelling houses and gardens thereunto belonging situate and being nearest unto and first adjoining the turnpike road and forming the western part of a certain row of houses or property commonly called or known by the name of The College subject however to the charge and weekly payment of one shilling per week to my daughter Mary during the continuance of her natural life

Also in like manner unto my daughter Elizabeth Plumpton I give and devise those other five dwelling houses and gardens thereunto belonging situate adjoining and forming the eastern part of the premises called or known by the name of The College as last before mentioned and subject also to the like charge and weekly payment of one shilling per week unto my said daughter Mary during the continuance of her natural life

Nevertheless each and every of the foregoing bequests unto my said daughters respectively shall be subject to the payment and proper discharge of all such debts charges and incumbrances as my beloved wife shall find it necessary to impose upon them for her comfortable maintenance and support

Lastly whatever may further remain of my property then undisposed of at the death of my beloved wife I give and bequeath unto my respected friends Charles Salter yeoman and William Toogood accountant both of Collumpton aforesaid whom I appoint the executors of this my last Will in trust and to be applied by them my said executors in the following manner that is to say the whole of my household goods and furniture to my daughter Mary and the residue after the just and necessary charges and expenses of my said executors shall have been paid to be divided in equal shares and portions among and between my three daughters and to each of them share and share alike

Also it is my will that the present or any future husbands of my daughters or the present or any after taken husband or either of them respectively shall have no authority or control whatsoever over the property which I thus bequeath unto my said daughters respectively for their sole use and benefit and the receipt of each of them shall be a sufficient discharge

In witness whereof I the said William Mills have to this my last Will and Testament hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of September in a year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine William Mills

Signed sealed published and declared by the above named William Mills as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto set and subscribed our names as witnesses thereto
