In the name of God Amen Anno Dmi one thousande fyve hundred three score and three the xxij daie of September I Thomas Mogridge in the parishe of Colompton in the countie of Devon beinge of perfecte memorye make this my Testament and Will as followeth

First I give and bequeath my soule to Jesus Christ by whose death and passion I believe to be of the eternal and my body to be buried in the church earth of Christ at Columpton aforesaid by the [pa…] crosse and there to have a tombe made of stone as a man may merit [ ]

Item I give and bequeathe to the reparatyon of my parishe churche my best gowne

Item I to John Orwell in almes on house which he dwelleth in rentfree during his naturall lief

Item I give to Joane Mogridge my brothers daughter fouer poundes thirten shillings and fouer pence

Item to Thomson Soller over and above her wages forty shillinges

Item I doe assigne by this my testament to Emlen my wief every now to enjoye Wescotte landes according to the writinge thereof made during her lief

And after her lief to my children during the end and terme thereof and to their heires or assignes

Item I give and bequeath to Thomas Mogrige my sonne a hundred pounds in money with two meadowes named Bulley payinge thereof four pence a quarter

Also I give and bequeath to Joane Mogrige my daughter on hundred poundes in money and also fouer markes of an annuall rent out of [ ] lande as the writinge dothe appere and also all my terme which I have in one piece of lande named Shortlands which I had of [ ]

Also the rent of George Cockeram which he holdethe of me Thomas Mogridge quarterly to paye six shillings and three pennies

Also the rent which Thomas Bury holdeth of me Thomas Mogrige quarterly to paie three shillings and nyne pennies

Also the rent of a meadow which Walter Frank holdeth quarterly to pay twelve pennies

Also the rent of the heire of Thomas Croke deceased quarterly to paie four pennies

Also I will that if Emlen my wief be with childe at the date of the tyme and daie above written I will that the same childe shall have forty poundes in money to diminish the twenty poundes of the bequest of Thomas my sonne his parte and twenty poundes of the bequest of Johan my daughter is parte

Proviso that if any of my said children to die before the age of eighten yeres the longest liver of them to have the parte or partes of him or them so deceased yf they doe die or before the said age of eighten yeres then I will that the bequest to remaine to my next kindes man or woman

Also I bequeath to Mr John Heden to see this my Will performed and my wiefe and children to have and enjoye their bequests to be one of my overseers and rulers and for his paine to have six pounds thirten shillings and fouer pennies and I doe also appoynt and assigne my brother in lawe Humfrey Smith and he to have for his paines fyve poundes

Also I give and bequeathe to William Harte merchant according to my promise six poundes thirtene shillings and fouer pennies and I do also order him to be one of my overseers and rulers and for his travail in it to have six shillings and eight pence [ ]

Also money before bequeathed to my said children I will that it be employed to the proffit and finding of my said children till they be able to enjoy it themselves by the discretion of Mr John Hedon Humfrey Smith and William Hart my said overseers and rulers

The residue of my goodes movable and unmovable I give and bequeath to Emlen Mogrige my wief whome I order and make to be mine executrix to dispose part in dedes of charitie according to God his most holy word the witnes S. Manninge curate

And I also have putt to this my Will my hand and seale the daie and yere above written
