In the name of God Amen The thirtieth day of December 1642 and in the eighteenth year of King Charles etc. I Humphrey Moyley of Collompton in the county of Devon yeoman being weake of body but of perfect memory thankes bee given to the Almighty doe make my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following
First I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty God my maker and to Jesus Christ who redeemed mee and my body to the earth from whence it came
Item I give unto the repairinge of the Church of Collompton twentie shillings in money
Item I give unto the poorest and neediest people of Collompton twentie shillings in money to bee distributed att my funerall
Item I give unto Roger Moyley and Humphrey Moyley sonne of Henry Moyley deceased all my estate in four parcells of ground called Colebrooke ground when they shall accomplish the age of one and twenty years and in ye mean tyme my mind and will is that the use and benefitt of the aforesaid grounds shall remaine in the hands of my Overseers except urgent occasions be by flictions for betterment of them my mynd is that there shall be a payment given out for the recovery of their health if it may be by good have the act of a skilful phisition according as my Overseer shall think fitt and needfull
Item I give unto Thomasin the daughter of Henry Moyley deceased five pounds in money when she shall accomplish the age of one and twentie years and in ye meantyme my mind is that my Overseers shall make the best benefit they may of the said pounds and the benefitt to bee given unto her for her better preferrment
Item I give unto Richard Moyley my sonne tenn pounds in money
Item I give unto Mary daughter unto Richard Moyley tenn pounds in money and unto Joanne daughter unto Richard Moyley tenn pounds in money
Item I give unto Humphrey Moyley sonne unto Richard Moyley my estate in Swyneham provided always that Richard Moyley my sonne shall gain half the rent of the ground during his life
Item I give unto my Rulers forty shillings apiece All the residue of my goods and chattells I give unto Humphrey sonne unto Richard Moyley whome I make my executor of this my last Will and Testament and I doe desire James Osmond of Willand and Robert Comb of Wylland and Christopher Manning of Collompton to be my Overseers desiring them to see this my last Will and Testament truly accomplished the mark of Humphrey Moyley
This Will was signed and sealed by Humphrey Moyley in the presence of the mark of George Blackmore Christopher Manning Srimptor
This Will was proved at London before the Right Worshipfull Sir Nathaniel Brent Knight Doctor of Lawes Master Keeper of the Prerogative Court the five and twentith day of June in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fiftie two by the oath of Humphrey Moyley the younger the executor named in the said Will to whome administration was committed of all and singular the goods chattells and debts of the said deceased which in manner of wayes concerne the said William he being first legallie sworne by virtue of commission in that behalfe well and truly to administer the same
