Will of Thomas Oxenham late of Cullompton, Husbandman

In the name of God Amen I Thomas Oxenham of Collumpton in the countie of Devon husbandman in the one and twentieth day of January in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fiftie and two being weake of body but perfect of memory the Lord be praised doe ordaine and makethis my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following that is

First I bequeath my soule to Almightie God my creatour and to Jesus Christ my Redeemer and my body to the earth to be buried in the churchyard of Collumpton

Item I give to Gabriell Oxenham my sonne forty shillings to be paid immediately after my decease and Mary my wife

Item I give and bequeath unto the children of Gabriell my sonne which are now living twentie shillings equally to be divided amongst them to be paid immediately after my deceased and Mary my wife

Item I give and bequeath unto Roger Oxenham my sonne four pounds to be paid immediately after my decease and Mary my wife

Item I give unto Samuel Oxenham and Ann Oxenham my grandchildren sonne and daughter of my sonne Roger Oxenham tenn shillings apiece to be paid to them immediately after my decease and the decease of Mary my wife

Item I give and bequeath unto John Oxenham my sonne one furnace of brasse with the furniture belonging thereunto in which we use to make sope to be delivered immediately after my decease

Also I give and bequeath unto my sonne John one chest which is framed standing in the Eastern Chamber to delivered immediately after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne Thomas Oxenham one chest standing on the north side of the Eastern Chamber in my now dwelling house to be delivered immediately after my decease and Mary my wife

Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Oxenham my wife and William Oxenham my sonne all my goods and chattells movable and unmovable which is not bequeathed whom I make joynt executors of this my last Will and Testament in manner and form aforesaid

I doe desire Robert Evans of Old Clave of the county of Sommersett and Robert Baker of Collompton to be my Overseers of this my last Will and Testament to have it performed according to right and truth etc The signe of Thomas Oxenham

Sealed signed in the presence of us Ro Baker the mark of William Oxenham

This Will was proved at London the two and twentieth day of May in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fiftie and eight before the judges for Probate of Wills and granting Administrations lawfully authorized by the oath of Mary Oxenham the relict and surviving executor named in the above written last Will and Testament of the deceased to whom administration of all and singular the goods chattells and debts of the said deceased was granted and committed she being first legally sworne by virtue of a commission truly and faithfully to administer the same William Oxenham the sonne and other executor departing this life before he had taken upon him the execution of the same Will
