William Broom the younger of Cullompton in the county of Devon gentleman and William Gabriel of the same place gentleman the testamentary trustees or guardians during the minority of Daniel Palmer the son the sole executor named in the last Will and Testament of John Palmer late of Cullompton aforesaid taylor who died on fourteenth day of October 1817

In the name of God Amen I John Palmer of Cullompton in the county of Devon taylor being of sound mind memory and understanding but considering the uncertainty of human life do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say)

I give and devise all my messuage and tenement which is now in my possession and likewise the messuage and tenement now in the possession of Thomas Cross my tenant with the garden and appurtenances thereunto belonging together with all my testamentary estate and effects which I may die possessed of unto my son Daniel Palmer his executors administrators and assigns

But upon trust nevertheless to permit and suffer my dear wife Ann Palmer to receive and take the rent issues and profits thereof as long as she shall remain my widow but my will and meaning is that my said wife shall be at liberty to conduct and manage the whole of my affairs as long as she shall remain my widow as aforesaid and I hereby declare her receipts shall be a sufficient discharge to any person or persons paying any sum or sums of money on account of my testamentary estate both paying and receiving so as my said wife do and shall every twelve months or oftener if required by my friends William Brown the younger of Cullompton aforesaid gentleman and William Gabriel of the same place gentleman deliver unto them a true and particular account of all monies had received and paid by her until by said son shall attain his said age of twenty one years and in case my said wife shall refuse or neglect so to do when thereunto requested I hereby revoke the devise in trust for my said wife

And I hereby give devise and bequeath all my messuage lands and hereditaments monies chattles estate and effects whatsoever unto the said William Brown and William Gabriel in trust for my said son Daniel his executors administrators and assigns

And from and immediately after my said son Daniel arriving at the age of twenty one years and my wife still remaining my widow my will and mind is and I hereby request the said William Brown and William Gabriel to take an account of the whole of my effects which shall then remain undisposed of and deliver the same unto my said son Daniel but nevertheless to permit and suffer my said wife to receive the rents and profits as long as she shall remain my widow as aforesaid and it is also my will and mind that my said wife shall and will as long as she shall remain my widow as aforesaid have use occupy and enjoy the whole of my household furniture

And I hereby nominate and appoint my said son Daniel Palmer whole and sole executor of this my last Will and Testament and I hereby revoke all former will and wills by me heretofore made and declare this to be my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I the said John Palmer have to the first sheet of this my last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of paper set my hand and to this the second and last sheet thereof set my hand and seal this first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen
