In the name of God Amen the twentie and sixte daye of December in the yere of our Lord God one thousande fyve hundred three score and five in the nynethe yere of the reigne of our Sovereigne Ladie Elizabeth by the grace of God of England France and Yreland defender of the faith etc.
I Henrie Pares of the parishe of Colompton in the countie of Devon merchanante beinge sicke of boddie and perfecte of remembrance doe make this my Testament and last Will in manner and forme followinge
First I bequeath my soule to Allmightie God and my boddie to Christian buriall in the churche of Colompton
Item I give and bequeath to the parishee churche of Colompton tenne shillings.
Item I bequeathe amonge the poore at my buriall seaven pounds
Item I give and bequeath to the three daughters of my sonne John Pares deceased sixe score pounds of lawful monie of Englande equallie to be devided amomg them at their dayes of marriage or at the age of eighteene yeres
And if one of them dye before the tyme afore expressed that then the holl to remeyne to the longest livers of them and if they dye all and but one living then it to remeyne to that one then lyving and if they happen to dye all before the tyme before expressed then the saide sixe score poundes to remeyne to my sonnes and daughters children and the same money to remeyne in the meane while in the custodie of my sonne Humfreye Pares
Allso I give unto Robert Butt in money tenn shillings and my gowne furred with fox
Allso I give unto Henrie Butt my servante over and above his wages twentie shillings
Allso I give and bequeath to my servant Mergerie over and above her wages twentie shillings
Allso I give and bequeath to Reynolde Clappe all suche money as he dothe owe me and more I give hym sixe shillings eight pence
The residue of my gooddes chattells and debtes not yet given nor bequeathed I give and bequeathe to my two sonnes William Parres and Humphrey Parres whom I doo make my wholl executours
My overseers I doo make to see this Will performed Simon Kaylaway George Cockeram and David Cox to whom I give fyve shillinges to everie of them
Witnessing to the same William Pares Humfrey Pares Robert Butt Reynold [ ] with others
