In the name of God Amen I James Pickering of Cullompton in the county of Devon tanner being of sound mind memory and understanding do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say

After payment of my just debts funeral expenses and charges of proving this my Will I give and bequeath unto John Smith of Bankside in the parish of St Saviours Southwark in the county of Surrey lighterman the sum of two hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain

I give and bequeath unto my cousin James Randle the sum of twenty pounds of like lawful money

And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects both real and personal in possession reversion remainder or expectancy which I shall die possessed of interested in or any way entitled unto I give devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto and equally between my two half sisters namely Sarah the wife of the said John Smith and Elizabeth the widow of William Smith late of the Mint in Southwark aforesaid deceased to hold the same unto them the said Sarah and Elizabeth and to their respective heirs executors admors and assigns for ever as tenants in common and not as joint tenants

And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said John Smith sole executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby revoke and make void or former and other Wills by me at anytime heretofore made and do declare this only to be my last Will and Testament

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eleventh day of July in the year of our Lord 1808

Signed sealed published and declared by the above named testator James Pickering as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto the word “two” being first interlined between the sixth and seventh line from the top

Catherine Cross Jane Redman servant to Mr Cross J Pross Southwark

Proved at London 27th of April 1816 before the worshipful Samuel Rush Meyrick Doctor at Laws and Surrogate by the oath of John Smith the sole executor to whom admon was granted being first sworn duly to administer
