Appeared personally John Burrow of Clisthydon in the county of Devon carpenter one of the executors named in the last Will and Testament of John Read of Cullompton yeoman deceased who died on the eighth day of February 1837
This is the last Will and Testament of the John Read of Cullompton in the county of Devon farmer.
First I give and bequeath unto John Hook of the parish of Honiton in the said county farmer and butcher and John Burrow of the parish of Clisthydon in the said county carpenter their executors and administrators all my live stock corn hay cyder potatoes implements of husbandry household goods and furniture money securities for money and everything I may die possessed of
In trust for my wife Ann during the term of her natural life or as long as she shall remain my widow subject nevertheless to the payment of my just debts funeral expenses and the expense of proving this my Will
And from and immediately after the decease or intermarriage of my said wife then I give and bequeath the same unto my sons and daughters Elizabeth John Robert Mary-Ann Harriet Jane Caroline and Agnes to be divided between them share and share alike when they shall attain their respective ages of twenty one years except my two sons John and Robert whom I gave five pounds each extra to my daughters
But in case one or more of them should die before he or she has attained his or her age of twenty one years and without issue then I gave his her or their share unto the survivors of them share and share alike
And lastly I hereby nominate constitute and appoint them the said John Hook and John Burrow executors in trust of this my Will and I do hereby direct that my said trustees shall not be answerable for any loss or miscarriage by any security or securities that may happen in my estate nor shall the one be answerable for the other of them but each for his own acts and receipts only and also that they shall retain all their costs charges and expenses out of the estate and effects in the vested by my Will
In witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament contained in one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of January one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven

Signed sealed published and declared by the said testator John Reid as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto the interlineation having been first made in the fifth twelfth and thirteenth lines
