I John Salter of Slough Pool within the parish of Cullompton in the county of Devon yeoman do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say)

I give and bequeath unto my two sons John and Charles Salter and unto each of them the sum of two hundred pounds of lawful English money and currency

Also I give and bequeath unto my daughters Anne Baker Anstice Richards and Dorothy Mountstephen unto each and every of them the sum of one hundred pounds of like lawful money and currency

All which several legacies hereinbefore by me given I do order and direct shall be paid unto them my said sons and daughters respectively by my executor hereinafter named at the end of one year next after my decease

I also give unto my said daughter Anstice one of my beds performed with bedding and furniture thereto belonging to be delivered unto her by my said executor immediately after my internment

Also I give and bequeath unto my grandson Robert Salter the sum of fifty pounds and unto Charles Salter son of my said daughter Anstice the like sum of fifty pounds all of like money and currency to be paid unto them respectively by my said executor within one year and after my death

And whereas Robert Pring late of Cullompton aforesaid gentleman deceased did in and by his last Will and Testament in writing bearing date on or about the twenty third day of February in the year one thousand and ninety seven duly executed andattested by three witnesses (amongst other things) give devise and bequeath unto me the said John Salter and Ann my then wife his half sister all those his messuages tenements situate and lying at Mutterton in the said parish of Cullompton called Slough Pool Basehay late Charity Starkes late Allens cottages and two cottages at Mutterton Moor or by what other name or names the same where respectively known or distinguished with the several closes pieces and parcels of land meadow and pasture orchards gardens and all other the rights members hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto respectively belonging or appertaining and all his the testators estate right tithe and interest therein

To hold the same unto and to the use of the said John Salter and Ann his wife and their assigns for and during the term of their lives and the longest life of them he and she keeping the premises in good repair without committing or suffering to be done or committed any voluntary or wilful ruin or destruction thereon or on any part thereof

And from and immediately after the determination of that estate by forfeiture or otherwise in their lifetime or in the lifetime of the survivor of them then to the use of Robert Salter John Pring and William Palmer (the testators trustees) and their heirs during the lives of the said John Salter and Ann his wife and the life of the survivor of them In trust by the usual ways and means to preserve the contingent uses and estates therein before limited but in trust to pay the rent and profits of the same premises to the said John Salter and Ann his wife and their assigns during their lives and the life of the survivor of them

And from and after the death of such survivor then the testator gave devised and bequeathed all and singular the said last mentioned premises with their appurtenances unto and amongst all and every or such one or more child or children of the said John Salter and Ann his wife (except their son Robert it being his will he should be excluded therefrom and should have no part thereof) for such estate or estates in such parts and parcels manner and form as the said John Salter and Anne his wife or the survivor of them after the death of the other of them by deed or deeds with or without power of revocation or by Will or Codicil to be by them or him or her respectively duly executed and attested give grant direct limit or appoint the same

And for want of such gift grant direction limitation or appointment then the testator devised the same premises in manner therein mentioned

And sometime after died without altering or revoking his said Will and the said Ann Salter is since also dead

Now I the said John Salter by virtue and in pursuance of the power and authority to me given in and by the said in part recited Will and in exercise thereof and of all and every other powers and authorities whatsoever enabling me in this behalf and so far as I can or lawfully may do by this my Will duly executed and attested by the three credible witnesses whose names are intended to be subscribed hereto give direct limit and appoint all and singular the said messuages and tenements cottages lands and premises with their and every of their appurtenances so given and devised by the said Robert Pring in and by his said Will in manner as aforesaid unto and to the use of my son William Salter his heirs and assigns forever

All the rest residue and remainder of my messuages lands tenement and hereditaments monies and securities for money goods and chattels real personal and testamentary estate substance and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of every kind and sort (after payment of my just debts and funeral expenses and the several legacies in and by this my Will given and subject thereto) I give devise and bequeath unto my said son William Salter his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever

And I do constitute and appoint him my said son William sole executor and residuary legatee of this my Will hereby revoking all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made and declaring this to be my last

In witness whereof I he said John Salter the testator have to this my Will comprised in or written on two sheets of paper set my hand and seal to each sheet thereof this fifth day of May in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and ten the mark and seal of John Salter

Signed sealed published and declared by the said John Salter the testator in and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and also in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto
