In the name of God Amen Anno the yere of our Lord God ijt vh and xvj the first day of the month of February I Henry Sladde of Columpton of hole mynde and of good memory make my Testament in this manner
First I bequeath my soule unto almighty God unto our Lady his mother and to all the celestiall company of hevyn
My body to be buried within the churche yearthe of our Lady of Columpton
Also I bequeath for forgetting tithes xjd
Item to the high crosse of the same churche iijs iiijd To the light of our Lady iijs iijd to the light of Saint Michael iijs iiijd to the fraternitie of Saint John the Evangelist of the same church vjs viijd
Also I will that Elyne my wife have all my lands and tenenments the which I have purchased in Columpton and in commencerance for terme of her lyfe
And where I have enfeofeed certyn psons in my lands and in the house the which I nowe dwell and after the decease of me and Elene my wife to the use of my chantry I will nowe by this my present will any grannt or will to fore made notwithstandyng that my said feoffees should stand seased of the said house during the lyfe of Elyne my wyfe
And after her decease I will and give the said place the which I nowe dwell in with all the groundes and pasture belonging to the same to William More during his lyfe yf the terme so longe do contynue
And yf the foresaid William More do dye or departe within the terme the which I know I have in the foresaid tenement then I will and give the foresaid tenement with all the lande belonging unto the same tenement to John More for terme of his lyfe if the terme of my yeres do so longe contynue
And yf the foresaid John More do dye or departe within the foresaid yeres then I will the foresaid tenement with the same above recited grounde should remayn unto my chantrye praying them to be good masters to Elyne my wyfe and to see my will pformed and to be at my accounts of my aisle and chantrye when Saint Johns account is made
I bequeth to Lewis Pollard xls to be [ ] and to se my Will pformed in the forsaid premisses of my forsaid grannt and I will immediately after my death’s deceased that Lewis Pollard have an annual rent of iijs iijd to be good master and friende unto my wyfe Elyn
Furthermore I will and ordeyn John Lane and John Hake to see my Will pformed havinge for their labour every of them xs
And the foreaid Elyn my wife I ordeyn and make my hole executrix to dispose the residue for the welth and the salvation of my soule
