In the name of God Amen the ninth daie of January one thousand sixe hundred twentie seaven I John Tayler of Collumpton in the countie of Devon hosier being sicke of body but in perfect memory brance thankes bee to allmightie God doe make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following

First I bequeath my soule into the hands of Allmightie God my maker and redeemer and my body to the earth from whence it came

Imprimis I give to John Tayler my sonne the summe of tenn pounds to bee paid him by my executor when he shall accomplish the age of xxi yeares

Item I give to William Tayler my sonne the summe of tenn pounds to bee likewise paid him by my executor when he shall accomplish the age of xxi yeares

Item I give unto James Tayler my sonne the summe of tenn pounds to bee likewise paid him when he shall accomplish the age xxi yeares by my executor

Item I give to Robert Tayler my sonne the summe of tenn pounds to be paid him when he shall accomplish the age of xxi years by my executor

Further my will is that if any of my children shall decease this transitory life before he shall come to the full age of xxi years that then my will is that the portion of the deceased shall remayne by equal proportions to those that shall be liveing my will is that theire portions shall remaine in my executor’s hand for theire breeding and bringing up the putting in security in the discretion of my overseers

And I doe make my wife Alice Tayler my whole executor of all my goods my debts and legacies being paid

And I doe appoint Henry Lugge and Giles Tayler my Rulers and Overseers to see this my last Will to bee performed

In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the daye and yeare above written Signe of John Tayler in the presence of us John Bincombe by me Henrie Lugge by me Giles Tayler John Bale junior
