In the name of God Amen The three and twentieth day of August Anno Dom 1648 I John Toose senior of Collompton in the county of Devon husbandman being weake of body but perfect of memory thanks be to Almighty God doe make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following

Imprimis I bequeath my soule to Almighty God my creator hopeing by the merritts of the bitter death and passion of my Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ to obtayne forgiveness of my sinns and my body to Christian buriall

Item I give and bequeath to [ ] now my wife forty shillings of lawfull money to be paid to her or to her assignes or assigne by my executor hereafter named within halfe a year next after my decease

Item I give to my said wife one bedd performed and all such goods as she brought with her to be delivered to her immediately after my decease

Item I give and bequeath to my son Edward Toose one shilling

Item I give and bequeathed to my son John Toose one shilling

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Ellen Browne twenty shillings of lawfull money

Item I give and bequeath to Mary [ ] my daughter one shilling

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Dorothy Banner twenty shillings of lawfull money

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Joane May twenty shillings of lawfull money all which legacies formerly given my will is shall be paid by my executor hereafter named within halfe a yeare next after my decease

Item all the rest of my goods and chattells not formerly given or bequeathed my debts and legacies paid I give and bequeath to my sonne Henry Toose whom I make whole and sole executor of this my last Will and Testament

And further my will is that if my executor before named doe recover of my sonne John Toose such money as is due to me from him or forty or fifty pounds thereof that then my executor immediately after the receipt or recovery thereof shall pay unto my children before named (my sonne John excepted) forty shillings apiece to each and every of them

Item I ordain and appoint my loving friends Phillipp Clash of Collompton phisitian and John How of Bradninch scrivener to be my overseers desiring them to use their best endeavours to see this my last Will and Testament justly performed and for their paines taking therein I give to each of them twelve pence apiece

In wittness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale over the day and yeare first above written the mark of John Toose
